GULF STATES REAL ESTATE SERVICES REPORTS 2ND QUARTER NEWS COVINGTON (July 24, 2009) – Gulf States Real Estate Services, a unique full service commercial real estate and construction management company, reported its 2nd quarter NEWS. Results include:
1) WALL RAISING CELEBRATION - Gulf States and Habitat for Humanity team up for a cause! Gulf States provided a major financial donation towards the purchase of lots for (2) new Habitat homes to be constructed in West St Tammany Parish. Employer donated time for zoning, plotting, acquisition, and construction for employee, Judith Hartzell and neighbor, Jay Carter. June 6th was a day of celebration and raising the walls. The teams spent the day building and putting up the walls on the two homes.
2) COPPERSTILL MARKETPLACE IN COVINGTON - leasing continues at the new Copperstill Marketplace retail center to be constructed by Gulf States Real Estate Services in conjunction with Goodbee Land Company LLC. Although retail demand has slowed, Gulf States Real Estate Services continues to work aggressively in the retail sector focusing our attention now on more traditional goods and service retailers somewhat buffered from the recession woes such as food and drugs. The 9 acre project is located on the S.E. corner of Hwy 1077 & 1085 and enjoys all required government approvals. “There is tremendous demand for a full services neighborhood center in the area,” said Mike Saucier, President of Gulf States Real Estate Services.
3) EVANGELINE COURT MARKETPLACE IN CARENCRO is a new project of 260,000 square foot retail center in Carencro, LA and upper Lafayette Parish. It continues to move forward with Brookshire Grocery Company finalizing the acquisition of 6 acres within the development to build a new 55,000 square foot mega food store. Papa John's Pizza has also acquired an outparcel and will commence construction on their free-standing facility concurrently with the supermarket and 20,500 square feet of retail space that will provide various services by national and regional companies to the market. Additional tenants are now being pursued for Phase I of this 32 acre development, which is projected to open in the spring of 2010. HOLLYCREST BUSINESS PARK IN COVINGTON - We are currently constructing a 500’ extension of Andrew Drive, within the existing Parish Right-of-Way, to gain access to the 16.6 acre Hollycrest Business Park, a mixed-use development off of Highway 190 in Covington. This work is schedule to be completed by early September. This site is in the process of being subdivided through the Parish Minor Resubdivision process and has received all necessary Parish approvals. We anticipate beginning construction of the subdivision infrastructure by September 1st. Lots are available for sale now.
